What is the specific difficulty that solvers encounter? Solvers who are blocked in the middle of problem solving cannot explicitly express what makes the problem difficult, which hinders teachers from providing support at the exact point where students are facing difficulties. A study integrated eye-tracking with handwriting devices to investigate problem solvers’ online processes while solving geometry problems. Processing and analyzing the collected data shows that the technique can be extensively applied in various instructional scenarios.
